Born in 1966 and educated at Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm and Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, Lars Arrhenius occupies a curious position within Swedish contemporary culture. While exhibiting work at Galleri Magnus Karlsson he also finds an outlet in Swedish national television’s children’s barnkanalen as co-creator of the acclaimed music-based series ‘Showtajm’ – and vice versa. Both these activities are unquestionably related to each other for Arrhenius via his opportunistic approach to producing work, opportunistic in its most positive reading – in that life is what happens. Arrhenius relates stories in animated films and graphic works that depict the very essence of that which occurs, or could possibly occur day to day. The discussion took place at Arrhenius’s home in Stockholm November 2012.
